Question New to Rit-Any Suggestions?

Well here I am, I have just gotten my new Rit to the mainland and farmed for him a Rit Lord Staff but now ive hit a delema. I first off have my Shing Jea armor still and secondly Have no clue what to do with it..The second Profession is Monk (thanks to the input from my good buddy Norath Bob). So can anyone clarify what will be worth while for my Rit (ex. Armor, Speccs, Skills) basically anything that you think could help me be a good rit.

Thank you for the future help,

Krosa.

You should try get the 1.5k max armor Imperial or Exotic set. They are the easiest to get because of the materials. Just check Wiki on where to get them because they can be bought in the explorable areas, not towns. I bought the 1.5k Imperial set because it was annoying having crappy armor against Afflicteds. If you're rich then get the 1.5k Canthan. Your choice. For the type of armor, since you're going Rit Lord, you should use Halycon Armor because you need as much energy as possible. For skills, Book of creation is a must. You get access to Ritual Lord elite for while so use Serpent's Quickness for now. Use Pain, Bloodsong, Shadowsong, Union, Shelter, Displacement. If you have Nightfall, pick up Anguish. For runes, get a Superior Communing Rune and a minor spawning. You might wanna add Res or Flesh of my Flesh for res, because human players tend to get mad when you don't have a res lol. Well this is what i basically did to get my Rit to beat Factions.

Be sure to get max armor of any set you can best afford.

The largest strength and the largest hurdle for the ritualist is their versatility. Simply trying to figure out what you enjoy doing with the class is as hard as learning how to do it well.

IAmFlip's suggestion is sound; it is the standard skillset of either an offensive or defensive spirit ritualist. Here is an offensive spirit build I use:

Channeling: 12 (runes may be added if desired)
Communing: 12+1+3
Restoration: leftover points

Painful Bond
Pain
Bloodsong
Anguish (or sub any other spirit you want)
Weapon spell (based on situation. wailing weapon or warmongers are good choices)
Offering of Spirit (or Signet of Spirits) Elite
Self heal (will be weak with few points in restoration but better than nothing)
Resurrection Skill

There are builds that are more entertaining to play, but this will get you started with an offensive spirit based build. The key to spirits is placement. Learn to read your team and terrain to set up the most effective spirit placement. This takes practice but remember that spirits have roughly the same range as a longbow or a flatbow. It may prove to be helpful to practice visualizing range and using a longbow on a target to help you grow used to range placement.

Generally, keep your spirits in the backline and wand the target to help direct their attack a little better. Spirits die quickly when attacked so spreading them apart to avoid AoE is advisable.

Just experiment and see what play style works best for you. I tend to play my ritualist as an indirect damage dealer now. Mainly, I help my teammates kill more effectively through spirits and weapon spells.

To play thru with people, a healer/support rit is a smart way to go. Lots of people like the pips of regen that you can provide with some restoration spirits and weapon spells.
--recuperation
--union
--shelter
--dissonance
--weapon of (your choice) / rit heal spell / monk heal spell
--rit heal
--rit heal / monk heal
--rez spell of choice

If you're playing with henchmen on the quests, then I recommend spirit-spamming, as it were:
--bloodsong
--pain
--dissonance
--shelter / union / recuperation
--painful bond (? I think that's what it's called)
--channeling zap spell of choice.

The nice thing is that factions can be "brute strength-ed"...that is, provide more firepower than the afflicted or am fah or jade, and you're good to go. So with henchies, the spirits fatten up your party and pummel targets nicely.

Read the posts above about spirit placement--they're right on.

I bought 1.5 canthan armor in Kaineng first...and then two head coverings: One with superior restoration, one with superior communing. This lets you rebuild pretty flexibly.

I found that people like having the rit in missions as another healer/protector, but if you're a damage dealer, be sure to tell people, so they know.

Happy trails!
